Build Your Image

Some say that it is all about image, how you look and how you feel. They could be right.

We believe it to be a combination of a good product wrapped well and that product either being in demand or being in the right place to attract a job offer. We can assist you with almost all of these. An image can be how you dress and present yourself, how you speak and hold yourself in conversation, your social interactions, the clubs and societies that you are involved in and how/with whom you network. It is about your CV/resume, cover letter, and interview, how your colleagues regard you, how recognized you are in the marketplace. Do you have a public image, are you known in your field of expertise. Do you write articles or present papers, do you do voluntary work? No matter what you do or who you are everything you are or do contributes to your image or profile.

You have probably heard the saying "Once you get the name of an early riser it doesn't matter what time you get to work". There is a certain truth in this. You will have heard people being described as a capable person, somebody who is well organized, a hard worker, very dedicated, very focused on results, great to work with, a real team player, a wonderful kind person, a great asset to the company and so forth. You have equally heard the opposite. Which do you want to be?

Image is something you have to be aware of and try to influence to your benefit. Sense it and react to it.

When applying to a new employer the only image builder they will have is your letter and CV/resume. Spend time on it and get it right. It is the biggest investment in yourself that you can make. Get advice if necessary but do make sure that your CV/resume and cover letter assist you to jump off the page. Craft each word with attention to detail and make each word count. Work on the layout and presentation. Make your presentation different but familiar, different enough to stand out from the crowd and familiar enough so as not to be difficult to read or requiring time to adapt to the format.

Your next image encounter is the interview, be prepared. Work on your appearance, get the hair done and make sure you are looking well. We all look well when we spend a little time on ourselves. If necessary, get advice. It will be worth it not just for the interview but also for your personal well-being. Do you need to get fit or to loose weight? I need to do both. When I achieve a little of each I feel great. When I dress up really well I feel great. I feel like a new person with that extra bounce in my step. Imagine that you are a new person walking into that interview without any baggage, without a care in the world and confident in the knowledge that you will do a good interview. Interviewers immediately sense a confident step, that confident handshake and the eye contact, the person with energy and focus dressed to perfection but without overkill. You're confident greeting and the interviewer immediately determines the energy in your voice. You have prepared for this interview and you will do well, your image tells the story.

Work on the product, put the right set of experiences in place, get the training you need and present yourself well. Become a good product wrapped well. You will go far.
